Join the Friends
Members of the Friends pay an annual subscription which allows them free entry into the Reserve for the subscription period 1 April to 31 March of the following year. The subscriptions received are used primarily:
- to fund the Mike Woods Environmental Education Centre activities and programmes
- to contribute to conservancy activities within the Helderberg Biosphere.
As a member of the Friends you receive the following
- Membership card
- Free entrance to the Reserve
- Regular newsletter
- Option to buy an Early Riser key for early access to the Reserve
Membership (and application for an Early Riser key) can be done at the Information Centre between 10:00 and 15:30 (note the cut off time is an hour before closing at 16:30).

*Children under 4 years: Entry is included on the responsible card holder’s membership.
Early Riser key
Please note that the availability of Early Riser keys is currently under review and we are awaiting feedback on the issue.
Available to members. R100.00 for the year. Provides access to the reserve on foot before opening hours.
