Eco-Rangers explore a new hiking route at Koeel Bay – 5 May 2012

Our Eco – Ranger outing was to the newly developed hiking route in the Steenbras Nature Reserve, Koeel Bay. This area is managed by the City of Cape Town and its Nature Conservation Management has laid out a hiking route for visitors. Our group’s sincere thanks to the Area Manager for giving us permission to enjoy a wonderful day in this beautiful natural environment. To support the conservation effort here our group offered to help clear the pathway by cutting back some of the plants that have overgrown the route.
The weather was just perfect and the surrounding just magnificent! We marveled at the majestic mountain range that surrounded us, the blue ocean, beautiful ericas and other fynbos flowering. We found a scorpion, small snake, bark spider, interesting locusts and had a lovely break at the river where some Eco-Rangers decided to take a dip in the icy water! We can’t wait to visit again!
The route will only be officially available to public once it  has been completely opened and the signage is in place.
