Tommy Dell concert on 31 January
Country music lovers are in for a treat on Sunday, 31 January 2001 when Tommy Dell and Roadhouse take to the stage at the Helderberg Nature Reserve in Somerset West.
Well-known to Radio Helderberg listeners, this singer, songwriter, radio announcer, vocal coach and cabaret artist does not need much of an introduction. Tommy has performed all over the world and has won several awards in addition to representing South Africa more than once in Nashville, USA.
After making his debut DVD Tommy Dell at Home, he decided to team up with the boys from Bellville — Vissie on bass, Kobus on lead, Frikkie on keyboards and newcomer, Alwyn, on drums. They promise to take you on a merry-go-round of music from country, to rock, to comedy plus everything in between.
Tommy and his band promise you an afternoon of nostalgia and sing-a-long songs. CDs and DVDs will be on sale at the performance.
Bring your blankets and chairs, your friends and refreshments and come and enjoy the music of Tommy Dell and Roadhouse at the Helderberg Nature Reserve. Remember you can tune in to Tommy’s Breakfast Show on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 06:00 – 09:00 on 93.6 FM.
The concert starts at 17:30 and tickets can be bought at the gate. The cost is R30 per adult and R10 for scholars. There is no admission fee for children under the age of five. The proceeds of the concerts are used to support environmental education projects at the Reserve.
Only four concerts remain in this year’s line up. The performance by Abaqondisi on 3 January had to be cancelled due to rain and we are pleased to welcome them to the Reserve on 7 February. The 12-member jazz band, Banned in Evolution, follows on 14 February. On 28 February the well-known Army and Caledonian Bands take to the stage before the sunset concert series wraps up for the season with jazz from Black Market on 14 March.
